I haven't been on the computer for a few days.
really not much to write about.
the squashes are not spreading out. they keep growing straight up. I imagine they will eventually tip over .?
I got the electricity into the lawn mower shed.
the combo switch I used is faulty. the light switch works, but the outlet does not.
I will redo it all and put in separate outlet and light switch. not a big deal, but I could/should have done that in the first place.
then I can start installing the shelves and peg boards.
Barb should be getting home soon. I did miss the early morning posts.
Lisa, a friend said that he was hoping to get a 4th cutting of hay. I suspect he is not baling it, but he must be chopping it ? I didn't ask.
Jim I remember when we were farming chopping 4th cutting for haylage. Husband still wants a second cutter, probably in a few weeks.
My small corn patch got knocked down by the wind. I keep standing it back up. We are close to it being ripe. The big patch didn't do anything but grow weeds.
Had something get in my cat shed last night and eat all the cat food, and pulled a knob off a storage bin. I'm thinking we may be feeding a trash panda. Not sure how to live trap it and not the cats.
Yesterday we cut down a bunch of shrubs around our house that should of never been planted there. Seems we planted them about 9-10 years ago, and my mind wasn't straight because of the chemo I did. It eats your brain cells out. That's my excuse for making such poor choices in shrubs. Going to put is some spirea instead. Those are more manageable.
The whole yard has gotten overgrown. I haven't done much in 2 years since losing my little dog. We will start to prune stuff back up. It's like a jungle out there.
Lisa, live trapping cats doesn't hurt them. and once a cat is caught it most likely will not do that again.
just don't use a bait that will attract a cat.
you can hill corn to stabelize it.
our place where we buy corn went up to
$8./doz. it won't be long before it will be a bucaneer..
good news. the switch was not faulty after all.
I went to change it and discovered that one of the neutral wires slipped out of the wire nut.
put it back in and all is good.
I started making the shelves. took a before picture of the mess.
i think Annie is taking me out for breakfast.
on sunday Hardees has biscuits and gravy for $1.50
yesterday we went to Arby's. Giros, 2 for $7.oo
Annie is a great coupon clipper.
i love corn season.
good luck catching the coons. I heard that marshmallows is good bait.
I got a good start on the shelves today.
have one side almost done. bought a box of 3" screws last week. can't find them today. oh well,
they will show up just as soon as I finish the shelves. will have to use Philip head screws in the mean time.
the squash is still standing up and not tipping over. it is well over a foot tall. still looking robust.
had a nice short rain this afternoon.
No coon. Corn wasn't enough. He went right in the cat shed and cleaned me out. I don't have marshmallows. Might have to get some. Cats at least didn't go into the traps. I'm thinking dry cat food next. Cats get that free choice so maybe they won't go in for that.
the cat food should work. as long as the cat's curiosity doesn't get the better of him. lol
I have to take another picture of my
"squash patch". I have all kinds of blossoms and the plants are still standing straight up.
today I worked through extreme heat and finished the shelves on one side of the lawn mower shed.
tomorrow I will start on the other side.
am ready to put the peg board up.
the black berries are getting ripe. they are large and juicy .
apples are dropping off of the tree daily.
each morning the deer have them all ate up.
