Did you get those lag screws, Jim? My Chicago friends and I went to Menards yesterday, and thanks to Adam being willing to load and unload them, I have a pile of 6-foot cedar pickets in my garage.
I hope to finish covering over the old, raggedly looking lattice under the deck to match what I did on the south side last year. Ideally, that will happen before snowfall this year!
The Chicagoans always look forward to shopping at Bomgaars when they're here, so we started the day there. Later, the dogs, a chicken and a duck all got pedicures, and Adam cut down a horse stall mat to put in the geese's shelter to cover the hardware cloth that had a couple of rough breaks in it. I sure didn't want Gussie and Golly to tear up their feet and have to see the pricey vet.
Of course, since they are silly geese who don't like new things, the new flooring frightened them, and they refused to go to bed last night. I had to pick them up and push them inside.
Adam listened to me explain the concept of putting up a garage shelf. That's as far as that project went.
My friends' anniversary was Friday and they made reservations at a sushi restaurant. I'm glad they enjoyed the meal -- and the lower-than-Chicago prices; I ate hibachi vegetables and rice. Sushi has never appealed to me.
I picked what I think will be the last ripe full-sized tomato of the year, a Willie's Garden that I got at Seed Savers. Still plenty of cherry tomatoes though.
