Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Sounds like Mother Nature is giving us all the cold shoulder right now. Lisa, I hope your water woes get repaired soon, and Jim, I hope you get to create some sawdust.

Every time it looks like the brutal cold is over, it sneaks back in. Although the cold weather advisory is supposed to end at 9 a.m., there's more double-digit-below-zero temps predicted for tonight. IF the forecasters are right (???) it could be in the 40s and maybe even 50 next week.

I feel like my days are spent thawing waterers, checking for eggs before they freeze, shoveling blowing snow and drying out gloves, ski masks and coveralls. Last night, as I was trying to fall asleep, I could hear a the whirr of a snowmobiler packing down the snow where my driveway meets the pavement. High winds yesterday lifted loose snow and redeposited it on my deck and ramp, as well as making new drifts in the driveway.

BUT, I am quite proud of my pullets. I wish I'd had a camera with me because I discovered that three of the girls created a little hollow in one of the nest pads and they laid a blue, a white and a brown egg, all nestled together. It was prettier than art in a museum!

10below zero this morning.
I am getting weary of sitting around and waiting for warm weather to arrive.
Lisa, if it is just the adapter. that should be an easy fix
fingers crossed.
my other friend's problem was the overflow valve. it was an easy fix.
seems like chickens all over are starting to lay. several local people are selling eggs at reasonable prices.
now all we need are a few local oil wells. :lau

We have no water now Jim. Replaced pump. Took the line apart downstairs, and no water through it. We called a plumbing service, and are waiting our turn. Not sure when they will get to us. We figured the line from the well to house is plugged with iron just like the well line was. Hopefully they can blast it out. Otherwise they will have to dig up the line. I'm pretty stressed out. The thought of this going on, and the snow melting off will leave us with no way to water critters, and I'm afraid my fish will die without water changes. I'm trying to prepare for the worse, and hope for the best.

Still waiting. We re guessing it's too big of job for the weekend guy, and we won't her from them again until tomorrow. We are using melted snow for a lot of things. Bottled water for kitchen stuff. Getting to both of us. It's been a long week. Husband thinks the line needs to be dug up. I'd rather be talking about gardening.
