Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Way too hot. I think the heat got to me and I ordered some polish chicks for this week. Apparently the 15 half polish aren't enough. Those are growing like weeds and their mom enjoys digging up bugs for them.

My garden is a jungle. The corn is growing well. The stuff in the field is very sporadic. Told husband last year for trying it out there. Easier just to buy some. Tomatoes are huge. Wondering why I planted 5. Probably one or two is enough. Next year I'm going to plant them in containers and see how they do. Getting a few strawberries. They are big and delicious.

Hope this year breaks soon. I can't handle any heat and got the air on.

I'm still not feeling 100 percent. But, I'm overjoyed that the extreme heat is over. It's 79 degrees this morning, and everyone has survived. Of course, now the chickens believe that chilled watermelon should be part of their daily routine.

I'm hoping to get some weeding done and at least mow a path in the yard to where the dogs go out to do their business. If the grass gets much higher, I will have to stick a flag on Dinah's head so I don't lose her.

cool 66F this morning.
the tractor fixit guy came yesterday . go Ollie started, but has to order a diode. the battery won't stay charged because of it being bad.
going to replace the distributor cap, also.
it will be a few days until he comes back.
I had to take the recoil starter from the tiller to the shop, I couldn't get a bolt loose. it takes a special wrench, which I don't have. he put the new dog in for me and didn't charge anything.
Annie found a shiny tiny screw on the ground. I have no idea where it came from.

Hurray for cooler weather and a free fixit for the tiller. Finding something like a stray screw always make me nervous that I will too soon learn where it SHOULD have been 🙁

Yesterday was the first day I've felt okay since I've come home from my trip. I still don't feel great, but there's chores that need to get done. The Iowa air feels totally tropical and not at all motivating.

My sister made the mistake of jumping right into her chores; she ran the mower and weed eater the first day, then felt continually worse. Yesterday, she went to the ER, diagnosed with heat exhaustion on top of her jet lag.
