Tani it cheers my heart to see a young girl who doesn't want to look sexy!! I am a youth pastor and every year for prom I try and convince all my girls that wearing something funky and cool is soooo much better than looking sexy!! I can't wait to see your pics!

(BTW - modcloth FTW!!! I spend many hours positively lusting over their dresses and have several adorable ones from there!)

Do you have any flea markets around you? I have found many dresses all in really good condition and all cheap. Just have to look at everything even if you think nothing is there. Might even be able to find a older style one to go with the theme. If you were closer and didnt already have a loaner offered i would offer you a walk threw my closet lol.

I can't stand it when other gals wear really sexy things... my big sister especially (who seems to think that going out looking like a hooker is OK

) I used to be OK with wearing less conservative things, and then I got a bunch of guy friends who told me repeatedly how hard it was to keep their heads straight when all the girls around them dressed poorly. So, I started tying to dress better to help them out (and I don't know about the rest of you... but the thought of my best friend drooling over my chest just doesn't appeal to me!)

I'll be putting that site on my list of new faves! They have some cute stuff!

Your outlook on how to properly dress as a young girl is so refreshing! I feel the same way. One of my sisters dresses like a hooker, the other like a hobo. I prefer comfort over fashion but also consider my work environment when choosing my clothes. I work for a truck brokerage and I'm one of the only two females in the company. The other one is my mother. If you've ever met a trucker, you know they tend to look south when speaking. I don't let them have a reason to. I show no cleavage, no thigh (except when wearing mid-thigh length shorts), no belly... I even cover my tattoos except the one on my ankle in the summer IF I'm wearing shorts. As a 25 year old in this town, it's actually kind of odd to see me dresses conservatively. It's a norm to wear the shortest shorts possible, the lowest cut shirt, and it helps to show some belly. I can't stand it. The one time I tried to dress according to the weather (it was 100*F), it involved shorts and a spaghetti strap, I got made fun of and told I'm anorexic. So now I cover up as much as possible and it's nice to see other girls who will do the same.

glad you found something that is going to work for you. I'm five foot four inches and I weigh eighty five pounds. I'm very small. I am sorely tempted to wear the tight clothes and short shorts because I look good in them, in fact I used to. until a couple of weeks ago when I almost lost my best friend over it because her mom said I was sassy and bad influence on her. I threw away all the 'sexy' clothes and am going to wear sweat shirts and jeans until I am sixty! It is going to be difficult not to wear them, but I'll just think about my best friend and It will help me.
