Mix breed 1/2 Naked Neck 1/4 Ayam Cemani 1/4 Red Ranger, 20 weeks old, estimated weight 4 to 4.5 pounds. I forgot to weigh him. Didn't expect the Grey/Black meat.

Have you eaten the meat yet? I am afraid to eat my grey meat from my Mixed Cemani. If I end up not liking it then my stomach will reject chicken for 6 months and I have dozens of regular colored meat birds I need to process and eat.

Yes sir I ate him tonight and he was delicious! DH and teenager wouldnt touch him A friend had warned me that the silkie she ate was tough, with a funny texture, so i cooked this Hona to fall of the bone soft. Crock pot is my favorite anyway so it wasnt a hard sell. I also brined him for a full 24 hours before hand and im glad to say i will be for the next two

The guy I gave the Thigh and drumsticks to (the black meat) was extreme impressed. usually he just says the chicken I give him is Ok or Good. He is a hunter so Live Stock meat isn't going to wow him like it does Store meat eaters. He mades sure to tell me how much more tender and flavorful it was. He also ate the CX meat I gave him (thighs and Drumsticks) and he said the 20 Week old (black meat) bird was more tender than the 7 week old CX.

When winter sets in and I have more free time (weather permitting) I may start going through old threads and collect other peoples Carcass pictures.
