I put dried banana leaves as a bedding. i chose them beacus they are not decomposing easily.
Is this ok to put mi chicks in.

What a great question. I think banana leaves would be perfectly fine as a bedding. My only question is: As they decompose, do they separate into tough strings? Could they become either a crop binding issue or a wrapped around leg/wing/neck issue? Or If they are large could a chick get suffocated under?

Imp- Used to shop at a nursery that had an indoor banana plant, that did grow bananas.

Congrats on your 100th post!

I think I would shred or chop them first. The other issue is that they are not absorbent and would need very frequent changing out.

Can't advise I'm afraid as bananas are tough to grow here, but ... I love the smell of bananas, let's hope your coop smells good, for a few days at least
