Dried out membrane

Here is what it looks like. This little one pipped about 7-ish last night. So it’s almost 24 hours

How can you tell if the membrane is dried out and you need to assist?
The membrane will start to turn brown when it dries out. If it feels like paper it's dried out. Wet the membrane down whenever necessary with a damp paper towel. You can help the chick by taking very small pieces of shell off. Don't rip the membrane though. If the veins in the membrane haven't receded enough and the membrane gets ripped the chick can bleed to death. Hope that helps.

Was it zipped like that last night, or did it just start doing that? It shouldn't take 24 hours to zip- if it's been stuck like that for that long, it needs help to get out.
