I wonder if anyone could tell me what poultry drinking nipples are available to purchase in small quantities either on line or at some big box store outlet? I found a couple in the FarmTek catalog but little info is available about them.
I would be interested primarily in those that could be adaptable to low pressure (0-5 psig) piping/tubing systems or buckets but also those that could be used w/ a standard 20/40 psig water pump system.
I do not believe I would want to purchase the saddle clamp attachment type although if the above are not available I might be able to make them "do" if I knew what operating pressure(s) they require.
Please include any evaluation comments on any such products.

Thanks for your response.

They are all pretty much the same, in principle. Some have different mounting means, most just screw or push into the appropriate sized hole in a plastic pipe. The nipples themselves work at low pressure, typically in inches of water column pressure, less than 1 psi. If you need to hook to house pressure then an adjustable pressure regulator is used at the beginning of the watering line to lower the pressure to what is required.

Hi,
Since I just have a small flock. I made my own. I ordered the screw in type of nipples from Farmtek, went and bought a section of 3" PVC pipe, a 90 degree bend, two end caps and some PVC glue. Cut the pipe to make an L shape, drilled two holes with a bit following Farmtek's recommendations and screwed in the nipples.

Very quick and easy.. I highly recommend nipple waters!

Hi there, welcome to byc! I absolutely love the nipple waterers, made a byc page if you wanna check it out. I haven't done anything fancy, just used the nipples in some plastic pitchers, but I have a small flock and it works well. For the winter weather and freezing temps, I've used a 5 gallon bucket, a bucket deicer with a thermocube and 3 nipples on the bottom. This has worked extremely well, and I am not dumping frozen buckets out. I've got horses also and that's enough frozen buckets for me right there! lol
