My 3 yr old rooster has a problem. Not sure what I am dealing with.4 weeks ago my daughters young goose seemed to have a seizure, fell over, couldnt stand etc. We tried doctoring her for a week but she died. The other goose seems fine. Then 9 days ago we woke to find 3 disemboweled kittens in the yard, gutted. My rooster hadn't crowed yet so Sarah went looking. Found him in corner of his dog house, Had missing feathers and one eye shut. She brought him in. No vet would see him (grrrr) so we started giving him sugar water. Then some broth with smashed noodles along with rooster booster and electrolyte. He wont drink or eat unless we use the eye dropper. Then 4 days ago his head was dropping. He tries to hold it up but so far no joy. Sarah took him outside today, sat him in the yard. He tries to walk but stumbles forward then falls. Hr just laid there for a while, got back up, tried again. Now his spurs are also very long and he has feathers on his feet so he has always walking weird, but not like this. He just is sitting in a huge dog cage looking sad. Any ideas? I bring up the goose as Im wondering is it was something contagious. Antibiotics? Thanks for any advice you can share.

Can you post some photos of him?
Did you check him over for any injuries? Feathers can hide a lot.

To me, it sounds like an injury due to the way you found him, the missing feathers and because you found the dead kittens.

You may want to try tube feeding him to see if getting him hydrated and fed makes a difference. Or try offering wet chicken feed. He may have suffered an injury to the head or spine-sometimes they can recover from these types of injuries if given time.

Putting him in a chicken sling for short monitored periods of time might be helpful as well. If his spurs are really long and hinder his walking, then consider trimming them.

I suspect a predator attack and agree you should look him over. It sounds like he is starving. Can you get some Exact baby bird formula and feed him a slurry of that with the eye dropper? I think you might want to gather supplies for tube feeding. Good luck!

Awww I don't know much about what happened but if anybody on here does know a lot about health care please help me with my hen. Also I hope your room gets better. Try some calcium water and maybe some inside cuddle time will help. Please search this up before doing it but I heard that I think it was baby aspirin or some baby medicine helps with pain and help bones in chickens with Mereks, again search it up before giving any meds to your roo
