Droopy, Caked Eye

Euthanizing a sick chicken is one of the hardest calls to make. Those of us for whom chickens are pets with carefully chosen names go through significant emotional pain when we lose one. I'm sorry she's gone.

There is no chicken parvo, but chickens can have many viruses and conditions. Sorry for your loss. If you refrigerate her body, you can either do a necropsy on her remains, or contact your state vet or poultry lab for a necropsy to look for a cause of illness. If doing a necropsy yourself, it can help to take pictures of the organs, noting the color of the liver, if any fluid that comes out of the abdomen when opening it, and if there are any abnormal findings. We can offer help.
