droopy chicks.Cocci?

I bought 17 sexlink chicks Monday,they ranged from 3 to 5 days old.When we got home one was droopy and not moving much and she died the next day.I assumed maybe she was injured on the way home.I noticed a couple of the other chicks were droopy and thought maybe it was stress from the trip.Some of them are still droopy and they seem to sleep a lot.It seems like only the smaller chicks are this way the larger ones are doing great.Last night I noticed one that is clearly sick.He is small,droopy,doesn't eat and gets knocked over easy.I am going to the feed store to try and find some Corid.Do you guys think this is Cocci or something else?I've read it's contagious and fast spreading so wouldn't the other chicks be sick already?

What is your setup, temps etc.

I have them in a large tote with pine shavings as bedding.I have a light set up in the corner that's around 90 degrees.Last night I gave them some yogurt mixed in with there food and also some Nutri-drench in the water.The breeders where I got these guys seemed very clean and they are NPIP certified,if that means anything.

How is their poop? How big is your brooder? IF you suspect cocci then medicate,cocci kills fast. All chicks need to be medicated. How big is tote? With 17 chicks,you need a large brooder.

It's a 35 gallon tote at this age they seem to have enough room.I change it daily and pick up droppings throughout the day.I would normally take chicks outside daily and bring them in to sleep but since some of these guys haven't seemed right they have only been out twice for about 45 minutes each time.Their poop looks normal its light brown with white in it.The one that is the sickest seemed to have a slimy poop last night.I have started them on Corid,I hope it helps,I think it's too late for the one though.I don't think their food is medicated,I bought a 3 pound bag from the breeder who mixes it up he said they add extra protein to it,not sure what they actually add to it though.

How long will it take to see an improvement after treating with Corid?If I don't see an improvement what should I do next?

Usually in 24 hours,there should be no blood in poop. You should notice an improvement in a couple of days. After treatment is complete,you can give them nurti drench or other similar product,to replace vitamins lost during treatment.

In addition to the Corid, you should by a bag of fresh chick starter from a feed store. Be sure to check the date code on the bag, some stores sell their older feed first.

I didn't see blood in their poop, but it was mucousy and kinda stuck to their butt.

Have you been checking them and treating accordingly for pasty butt?
