I went out this morning to check on my little 6-hen flock and noticed that one of my favorites, Heimlich, was super droopy and not in the least bit interested by the food I'd just brought them. She seems a touch photosensitive and kinda looks like I do when I have a flu. I checked her crop which is a bit swollen but not huge.
Following the instructions here: http://www.greenmuze.com/blogs/green-muzings/2208-chicken-impacted-crop-or-sour-crop.html I tried draining her crop but only a little tiny bit of fluid came up.
I currently have her isolated in a partially closed box in a dark, cool (but not cold) room with access to water with a bit of vegetable oil in it. Is there anything else I can do but wait and check on her periodically?
My other hens are having a fit now that they have noticed she's gone. Not the first hens I have ever kept but certainly the most social. Advice would be appreciated.
