Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my silky cross, over the last week Iv noticed she's had a red eye but it's now drooping and watery! She seems fine in herself! Is a trip to the vet needed? The chicken keepers where we had her have told us to get some optrex eye drops and treat her with that?!
Here's her good eye and bad eye

She has some conjunctivitis, which can be a sign of a respiratory disease such as mycoplasma (MG.) Do you see any sings or marks where she could have been pecked? Is there any nasal drainage, sneeze, or noisy respirations? Tylan 50 injectable can be given orally 1/4 ml twice a day for 5 days, or oxytetracycline or Gallimycin can be used in the water for treatment of respiratory diseases. Clean the eye with saline, and you can apply Terramycin eye ointment to the eye twice a day. Here is a good link to read about respiratory diseases: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

No other signs or symptoms, she could have been pecked, we introduced her with a legbar to our 15 week old chicks. There was a bit of arguing for a couple of days but they are all fine now.
I will get some optrex and treat her with hat and see how we go.
Thanks

Hi, I've a similar issue- How did your hen get on with the eye drops or did you follow any advice from the person who replied?

Here's my post:
