I was putting my Silkie eggs in a makeshift turner and when putting lid on they rolled out onto the bottom of the bator falling about 1 to 2 inches. Have I hurt the eggs in any way?

There is a posibility that they may have been hurt. Any rough treatment can render them infertile. That is why some hatcheries don't guarentee the fertility and recommend getting chicks instead. this is from Ideal poultry's web site, it's just to show how fragile eggs are;

IF YOU DO RECEIVE BROKEN OR CRACKED EGGS, PLEASE GIVE US A CALL. OUR GENERAL POLICY IS TO ISSUE A REFUND OF $1.33 PER BROKEN EGG. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE FERTILITY OR HATCHABILITY. SHIPPING EGGS GREATLY REDUCES THE HATCHABILITY OF EGGS. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING BABY CHICKS.

But don't be all doom and gloom about it, they may be fine. Time will tell. Hope for the best!

Are they cracked at all??, I would wait till day ten candling. What do you have to lose by waiting, you might be lucky with them.

Thank you, no none are cracked. The egg carton tipped over and they kind of rolled out onto the mesh sceen. The drop was probabley only about an inch or a little more. I sure hope they were not hurt. I am planning to candle them either on the eight or tenth and I have turned them once since I put them in and just laid them flat. This is the first time for me with the bator. I am so nervous with them and try to handle slowly.

This info makes me more hopeful for your situation.

It doesn't sound as harsh as I first thought. Keep your fingers crossed!

I dropped an egg about 15 cm's on day 5, The shell but not membranes cracked. I opened it up after deciding to chuck it and there was a little baby with a heart that kept beating for hours and hours.

I should think yours would be fine.

Whew....Thank you all, that makes me feel so much better. I can't wait to candle. Wish me luck and maybe some pretty silkies will be here around August 12th. Now I can go to bed and sleep good tonight.
