Drunk driving - could have been ALOT worse.

That kind of drinking to that point of drunkenness is not partying. It's addiction. Judgemental? Hell YES! I've been there and never want to return to that way of life. Hopefully he will recover completely- body, brain, and spirit.

Wow, he is lucky he didn't kill himself or someone else. I think a drunk driver has impacted most people in one way or another. I have an uncle that was killed while drinking and driving many many years ago. Thank goodness he didn't take anyone else with him. I had a 16 year old cousin that just got her license and was killed by a drunk driver 19 years ago.

I just saw an article today about a woman here in MN that was arrested for her 10th that is TENTH drunken driving offense. Something VERY wrong with that. She shouldn't have been allowed a second one.

edited cause I can't spell.

We own a breathalyzer. We got it a bevmo. When we have parties, we ask people to put their keys in a basket and after they've used the breathalyzer to make sure they're below legal limit, they get their keys back. If they're not legal, we offer to call them a taxi or give them a place to crash for the night.

Your a great friend!!! Awesome! How much did the breathalyzer cost? I've been thinking about getting one since I'm a beer drinker and never can tell when it's out of my system.

The breathalyzer is a responsible move, but the line between "legality" and "impairment" is very fine. Designated driver is a far better idea. I know, that's become my new designation.

I know, Call me cold or even mean but after you have been on the Fire Depo for a few years of a rural area. I can’t help but to think that every one at that party is to blame. They all walked away saying how bad it was for him and THANK GOD it wasn’t me! I've been there holding the life of people as there time counts down waiting for the life flight to the Hospital and knowing that the Drunk that will walk away may get nothing more than diversion and lose his driver’s license for at least a year. There is nothing I hate more but to think that every one at that party should be sitting in a jail cell right now.

I'm sorry I have nothing wrong with drinking and having a good time, Heck I do it to. But YOU nor I should ever get behind the wheel of anything while drunk.
Party safe and get a DD. And like you said I hope nothing more but that he learned a very HARD lesson with this and can help save a few lives with his new found knowledge!

It was quite clear they were all drunk, especially that moron that came over wanting to hide the bike and pull Rick into the house before the cops showed up. Idiot. Around here they arrest you at the hospital if you are drunk, or in the helicopter. They pretty much have no use for drunk drivers around here.
