Hi all, quick question here regarding the health of my chicken's nostrils. We recently moved outdoors from the brooder (6 weeks old). Sometimes, most noticeably when I would change the bedding, I would see some of the chicks sneezing. Some had a clear liquid. Now that we are outside, the sneezing has continued and it seems like some have a stuffy nose? Could it just be a reaction to their environment? Other than this issue, they are eating/drinking/pooping/socializing like normal, happy girls. I looked online and now I'm afraid they have everything from food allergies to MG. These gals came from a reputable hatchery and were vaccinated against merecks. I love them and want them to be healthy and happy! Any help is greatly appreciated.

What type of bedding are you using?
How much ventilation in the coop do you have?
Do you have photos or video?

Seeing some occasional sneezing from dry dusty bedding and feed would be normal. Mucous from then nostrils need to be watched, if they develop a cough, watery eyes or the sneezing becomes continual, then you will need to consider respiratory illness as a possible cause.

Thank you for responding. For the first 6 weeks they were in the brooder on pine shavings. Now they are outside in a well ventilated coop with a sand floor. i wonder if it's a reaction to the switch from pine shavings to sand? I won't worry unless things get worse. They have clear eyes and no other symptoms.

Never worry....They are adjusting to life outside ...Unless actually sick?...They will be okay...Best wishes...
