I was giving them some today, they were going crazy over it, and my b/f said it might swell in their stomachs? is it ok? they are about 5 months old.

I finally have them eating out of my hand, raisins did the trick now they come running when they see me.

I don't think that would give them any trouble at all. Have you tried searching the subject?(search bar in upper right hand corner)

https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=2593-Treats_Chart really good page on chicken treats

I did a search but it was added in a homemade feed not just a handful. They LOVED it they even ate it all before they would go roost and it was past that time!

Even in bulk steel cut oats are rather pricy, but they make great chicken feed. Just make sure they're getting some grit too if they're not on the ground.

I have had a carton for a few months I don't usually eat oatmeal so I thought I would give them some. They are on the ground so I don't give grit. Thanks!
