Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Lots of members do this on birds with big combs, especially ones with big combs getting frost bite in the winter. I am not sure where to get the tools to do it, but you might ask around on this thread on dubbing. Maybe someone there can help you out with this....

You can even stop by your state thread in hopes of locating someone nearby that can tell you where locally you might find these tools. Scroll thru this link to find your state thread....

Welcome to BYC - great resources provided by TwoCrows.

Welcome to BYC - I am too cowardly and squeamish to even think about it sorry

PS could show people tell you where to get equipment and how to do it?

I'm guessing poor dubbing could ruin their chances of winning - like with dogs that have cropped ears.

Thanks so much guys!! This is an awesome community. This is my rooster he's luckily not having such a big comb which is what I'm happy about.

I've read post all over here about dubbing. I live where frostbite is a real possibility. I intend to dub my roos to prevent this. I also have a roo that I'm going to be getting rid of since he attacked my new roo when the new roo was caged.

My question is this: Is there anything to use like they do to castrate livestock, like bands or clamps? I really don't like the idea of cutting them and then having to stop the bleeding.

@mekri hey....I know how you feel about that and honestly I dont think there's anything out there like that. If you wanna dub just pick up some curved scissors or straight scissors....try to use medical grade. Oak ridge game farm has some on there website. It's honestly best for your birds and doesn't reallu hurt them AT ALL. Here's on I just dubbed
