I have recently gotten a d'Uccle chick which is supposed to be a mille fleur color. Right now her wing tips are black, but she's mostly buff. Is she a different color of d'Uccle or will the mille fleur color come out later (she's only 6 weeks old)?

Thanks,

The coloring comes later. Our chicks didn't start getting spots until about a month old but have read that it can happen later than that. Hope that helps!

Yeah, the spotting and spangling don't come for quite a while -- they're really slow to mature that way. My guys are a few months old and just starting to speckle up a bit. ...though who the heck knows about the quality of mine.

you have to wait till they get there adult feathering to find out how well there spangling will be, then it changes slightly with every molt.

Thank you for your help so far. I was getting worried. I love the mille fleur coloring and was beginning to worry with her.

They are really cute. I don't know if it's just me but they are really sweet too! Mine can't wait for me to open the brooder to get near me, they sing a little purring sound. It's way too cute!
