D'uccle Thread

Your chicks are very cute they look a little older than mine due to the feathering! And yeah I think mine is a Millie Fleur D'uccle as well that's the color I ordered, but you never know another color could have slipped in!

Yeah - I ordered 5 speckled Sussex baby pullets ... one was a roo and one was a totally pretty but not speckled bird.

They look like milles fleurs to me because that is the color of the ones I hatch. I would think porcelains would be lighter? I don't have porcelains though so maybe someone that hatches them will chime in:)

I received this beautiful boy from another bycer, he is so beautiful- is there a way to tell age? What got me wondering is his lack of spurs? Does that happen often in duccles?
Or is he younger than either of us thought? He also has very small wattles-

Yes poreclains are lighter. To the people who were discussing their chicks above. Yours all look mille fleur to me.

a sample of the d'uccle stock Ideal has this year. i got whites, brown-red, blue mille and porcelain . the whites are very friendly and outgoing, but out of my 7; 1 has 5 toes, several have no feathering on the second toe, and one of those has no toenails on both second toes. The brown-red was so rare a colour I had to try some. they were smaller than the others. All these photos are from 8 day old chicks.

here is a blue mille, they had nice heavy foot feathering.

here is a side by side shot of a white next to a porcelain

Here is a pic of my most-of-the-time meany butt cockerel. As a chick (just like the rest of my mille fleurs) he looked just like the ones being asked about. Beautiful variety of chicks Paris! Thank you for showing us the porcelain as well. I hope to see pics when they are feathered out too!:)

psychemjr , I have a few extra roos, but I am over here in Wisconsin. I have a regular mille who is about 4 years old and has wattles that are too big, a year old black mottled with gold bleed-through, and a porcelain that I got as an adult last summer. All are very good with other chickens and all but the porcelain are friendly with people, the porcelain is a little on the crazy side, not aggressive at all, just kind of a basketcase!

I love the pics of all the chicks everyone is posting. I am going to post some of my three tomorrow, i can't believe they are already a week old! After my super disappointing hatch, I put my d'uccles back in breeding groups and am going to try again. Now I have to wait all over again, UGH!!
