Realistically you are not going to get "good stock" from a hatchery

I realize that they are not likely to be show birds, but as far as purity and generally correct type...? I guarantee that the foundation birds of most breeds were not show birds, but they were pure. That's what i want to know.

My MFBD were from Welp hatchery. While not SQ they look pretty good to me and plenty of local folk too. Aside from the boys getting mean like a chihuahua I think you CAN get good stock from a hatchery.

Yes, Ideal Hatchery in TX. Sorry about that. He is one spoiled little roo. He likes to get up on the arm of my chair or up on my shoulder and crow. He had a hard time this past winter and got to stay in the house for a few weeks and he thinks that made him privileged.

Wow... Don't laugh.... I was pronouncing it how it looks. "Duckle".

is Ideal better quality birds than Cackle or welp? Anyone have any idea about that?

I've heard any number of different pronunciations. A few say it that way, a lot say "D uck el," some say "DUCK-el" I use the latter pronunciation.
