D'uccle Thread

Yeah, I don't want to keep them but I have got a couple of nice chicks coming along from them. They were really expensive to buy.

Does anyone have any issue with their D'Uccle roosters attacking them.

Mine chase me, and have now found it fun to fly after me. I smack them, but after a day or so of thinking about it, they go and do it again..
I used to have one of those... I found a rake to be the only way to deter him. Carrying it with me in the run made him back off fast.

That's odd to hear that d'Uccle attacked you. My boys have always been sweet and docile. Anyways, the method I use for my OEGB cock after he attacks me, is simple picking him up and carrying him around with me. I usually tuck him under my arm so he is secure, like a football.

I have tried that, and all they do is flap, and sqwark and carry on, and it is already a difficult enough task catching them :p

I have 3 roos. 2 porcelain that came from a breeder. They are nice, but not super friendly. 1 milli he is the smaller of the 3. I raised him from a chick. He thinks he should sit in my lap to crow. Likes to sit on my shoulder. Most of the time he is a big baby. He wants yo be a lap chicken, but will puff up and act like he is going yo flog me if I reach to pick him up or pet him. He doesn't do it all the time and never fly's at me. At such a small size I just chalk it up to short man syndrome. Now I have a D'anver that cane from a breeder and he can have a real attitude. I always keep a eye on him if he near my head. I can tolerate them though. The LF roos font stay around if they develop attitudes.

I just hatched a little bunch of D'Uccles, purebred, they have a MF daddy and some real pretty Mamas, that I don't know what you call their color.
Question I have some pretty light color chicks, even yellow with dark stripes... What's going on?
Here are some pics.

The Pullets [above]

The chicks, do not look at the hen, she just hatched the eggs, has nothing to do with the chick breeding.
What color comes from those light chicks? There are 6 chicks, couple are darker.
They are 1 day old on pics. Hatched Oct 19

Won BV and BB out of about 12 D'uccles at Little Rhody this past weekend!:) it was a pretty good show
