I've been debating to bring this guy to a show, Im pretty sure blue mottled is not a recognized color but please correct me if I'm wrong

Of course but if you think he is a bad color you can ship him here! I love him.
He is exactly my point, [that I was trying to make earlier] He is gorgeous and I know that I'm going to have some "off" colors too, but I'm not real concerned........they are all beautiful!
Both the last birds posted are just awesome.
After all, remember Millie Fleur means Million Flowers, and that' s what they are like, so many gorgeous colors, I just can't pick any out and say they are wrong.
I understand the SOP and showing and I always want to breed for the correct type but the colors are more a preference of the breeder [ I think.]

I read somewhere that you go for type first then focus on color.I thought blue mottled was recognized but maybe i am wrong? Too bad because i have a young blue mottled roo I really like. Sonrise Silkies, he actually looks a lot like your cutie!

Yes, for sure you breed for type. If you don't...you just have mutt chickens. [no offense to those who like Mutts] Getting the type is harder than the color.
Even when you have a strange color people still admire your bird because of the great type.
I have raised cattle and horses for decades and even if a horse is an undesirable color he still is a great horse if his conformation is very correct.
Horse or cattle or whatever can be the perfect color he should be, Paint, Appaloosa, Palomino, but if he is a sorry specimen then he is sorry all over.
I feel the same about chickens.
Like they say...build the barn first and THEN paint it!
 
Went to Boston Poultry show today, a Mille d'uccle took reserve FL. Great to see a Duccle in the winners ring! Wasnt mine but I had to snap a pic. The lucky owners name is jerry. He unfortunately didn't have anymore to sell this season though:( anyone here attend the show? There were some really nice looking golden necks too!
