D'uccle Thread

Do mille fleur d Uccle go broody often?
ALWAYS..... LOL
let them go broody and they will usually raise enough chicks for you.... :)if you have two broody hens in the same pen, seperate them once the chicks hatch, or they will fight, often killing the chicks.
I have seen them pick up another hens chick and shake them like a dog..

the hens fight worse than any rooster I have ever seen... LOL

Really, my girl Chicken Llittle" is the sweetest !! I couldn't imagine her being mean! I have a big girl hen house with a Roo 12 of them. They get nasty ! I'm introducing a new hen right now. Of course I. Have a bantam coop and a big girl coop. I introduced mille to two Cochins 1 Roo just crowed this morning due to my big Roo. Sounded like a little kid screaming it actually scared me lol. Im not sure if the other is a Roo or not but sure looking that way. However much sweeter!! They were raised together so no problem in that area. Will chicken little be ok with two Roos or should I re home one? She's my baby ! I don't want them hurting her especially the more developed one!

oh they are the sweetest things ever to people and their chicks.... but put a hen who has some babies with her and put another hen in there and watch the fighting... two roosters might be too much for one hen... but only one rooster will be dominant so she might be ok...

we havae the hardest time when we go to shows... and we bring them home, casue everyone of the hens fight to be back on top of the pecking order.... they fight so bad they will peck each others eyes.. and rip out their beards..ugh

No way! That's crazy ! I just got her on a spur of moment kinda thing. ( my husband has had enough lol) so he built her a beautiful coop so I got the others from the assorted bin so she could have a friend. In hopes of 1 Roo two pullets. I may re home the aggressive one and keep the calm Roo. It's crazy they are so sweet and I'm hearing they are fighters lol..

I posted a pic of this baby at about a week old for color opinions. She's 5 weeks now and was wondering if anyone had any opinions now? Thanks!

i got her two cochin assorted both are turning out to be cockerels . My question is if Chicken little goes broody which Roo should I keep?picture 1-3 are her friends. I know nothing about genetics and breeding! If anyone has any input on this topic I would greatly appreciate it! The black one curly is very quite and timid ! Billy is all boy! I'm only wanting her to sit on a few eggs and maybe add some off my big girl eggs. I just don't know if I'll get a funky looking chicken if I go with the nice Roo ? Thanks in advance!

So here are an assortment of pictures of a chick i've got. It never crossed my mind that it could be a d'uccle until someone saw the picture tonight and said they thought that is what this chick is. Here are some assorted pictures of it's growth. Five toes, walnut comb, black skin, feathered feet, porcelain feathers...

Black skin, 5th toe! Those are the marks of a Silkie. I think you've got d'Uccle/Silkie crosses.
