D'uccle Thread

Non of my bantam have anything that long. Theirs are about 1/4 inch. Even when Caesar gets in one of his moods his foot feathers are do thick the spurs have never been a issue.

In my LF flock I trim the roos spurs with wire cutters. Just enough to get the points off so there's no danger in hurting the hens.

My extra roo from this spring was taken to his new home a week ago ....

I just got a card with his picture on the couch, on shoulders, everywhere ! He has turned into an inside / outside roo .... like a cat!

I think my boy found a good home.

What is the market for healthy, good (but not necessarily show) quality d'uccles ? Anotherwords .... my very small flock is the most charming and gentle group - and the momma hen was very VERY good at laying many eggs and then was a GREAT momma to her brood ....

But I don't want to purchase a new roo if there isn't a market for the young ones .....

Opinions anyone ?

Not like the faces of my birds .... and I wouldn't dare to call mine show quality - but they are better than these!

I think you should let ebay know ....

if someone wants these bird's babies - that is totally cool - but they should be honest about what they are ! Please report them for those breeders who ARE truthful - both pet and show quality !

Yes I agree. I don't have an ebay account though unfortunately.

I just sent the seller of those birds a message on eBay. I was nice, but ask how they could advertise them as Super Show Quality when the lack of beards would DQ them. The rooster is also missing Spangles on its tail and wing. She has several "Super Show Quality" birds listed. I don't know enough on the other breeds to judge. The price of the eggs are not show quality prices either so hopefully no unsuspecting buyer will be disappointed.

Edited to add.
I recieved a reply. She had been ask about them last night. She had read the standard and was going to change the listing to Booted Bantam. In the description it said they came from a flock of 50 years of breeding. It didn't say she had been breeding them for 50 years. More than likely this is a honest person who was sold eggs or birds under false pretense.

Good work. I noticed the spangles too. The rooster in the first picture has tons of white on his tail which he shouldn't. It is also possible that the seller got her stock from someone else who claimed they were show quality, etc, and she may just not know anything about the about them.

I edited my above post to add the response I got from the seller on eBay.
