D'uccle Thread

First year I have used an incubator... normally use broody hens. They went 25 days! Tell ya, it was nerve wracking!

My d'Uccles usually run a day early, and hatch on the 19th or 20th day, while other heavy breeds (such as black sexlinks) tend to hatch a day or two late.
The d'Uccle eggs I have in incubator go into lockdown today!

Does anyone on this site have fertile eggs for sale? I can't find anyone around here.if yes private message me please

I just went to check on the brooder with my 8 week old d'Uccles, and there was blood all over the place. I nearly had a panic attack, but eventually realized that the one had broken a foot feather, and I guess they are blood feathers. I pulled her out and examined her, and it doesn't seem to be bleeding anymore? I put some blu-kote on it so the others shouldn't pick at it. Is that okay? Will it heal itself, does this happen often, and is there anything else I need to do for her? Thank you.

I think your chick will be fine. That happens to my birds every once in a while. It's amazing how such a small injury can bleed so much. They heal very quickly though.
