First year I have used an incubator... normally use broody hens. They went 25 days! Tell ya, it was nerve wracking!

I spot checked my shipped d'uccle eggs and all but one of the six I checked had development =D I think two were black mottled.. yay =)

i think most bantam eggs hatch early so long as their not shipped....is it just a given that d'uccles have shorter incubation times? i took mine off the rotator for lockdown today and one was 70% unzipped and peeping strong! i put them in on the 7th (late in the day).
I just went to check on the brooder with my 8 week old d'Uccles, and there was blood all over the place. I nearly had a panic attack, but eventually realized that the one had broken a foot feather, and I guess they are blood feathers. I pulled her out and examined her, and it doesn't seem to be bleeding anymore? I put some blu-kote on it so the others shouldn't pick at it. Is that okay? Will it heal itself, does this happen often, and is there anything else I need to do for her? Thank you.
