D'uccle Thread

I think your chick will be fine. That happens to my birds every once in a while. It's amazing how such a small injury can bleed so much. They heal very quickly though.

Thank you! It seems to be doing alright, I just wanted to be sure it wasn't more serious. For what seems like such a small feather it really did get blood all over the place.

Hello All!

Wanted! Just posted in Buy Sell Trade for a Rooster or pair or trio.... In SE PA. Great home! Mareks in flock, must be vaccinated and over 1 year at least. (Oh Yeah, I said it out loud!) Tube feeding current Roo...never give up until he does....

Close to retirement roosters okay :) We only want a few chicks here and there. But must be a good fella, as D'Uccles are, to watch out for bicycles and hawks and the mail man.

I could use some help determining what color this chick is. I purchased two young roosters (who look beautiful so far) and one hen, and this is her. I was told that all three were Mille Fleur D'uccles and I saw pictures of the parents, who were all show quality. I think this girl is much darker than most chicks of this age, what do you guys think? I am not highly experienced with this breed but I plan on breeding them in the future.

It looks like a mille fleur. I've had a couple ''odd colored'' d'uccles like that, but they all filled out fine. Both of these hens looked a lot like your chick when they were young:

Hello! I'm new to this breed and am super excited to have such beautiful, sweet little birds! I've managed to sort out everyones gender and know their color is mille fleur, but now I've got a question about ones coloring similar to the post above. I read about their pattern taking time to come in but this one little pullet has A LOT of black on her back and head where the others are mostly a buff color. Is this normal and will she eventually look like the others after a few molts? They are only hatchery stock so I wasn't expecting the best coloring, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the chance I got lucky and will have a decent breeding pair! I've been back reading through this thread and learning quite a bit, but haven't found an answer yet. I appreciate your help! :)
Here's the pullet I'm wondering about:

And here's some of the others for comparison (and just because they're so pretty :) )

Thanks again!

BEAUTIFUL coloring! They're on my list. For now, I'm happy with my Mille fleurs
Me too beautiful!!!, I love those colors! So angelic. I love my Millies to but...

I know it would be wrong wrong wrong and not acceptable standard. But someone with some breeding capabilities and a little time.... Those porcelains could lay blue eggs and be even more heavenly...
