I'm glad I looked at this thread. I've been trying to figure out what this little hen is I bought at the auction. She was so pretty I just had to have her. She is a black mottled. I gotta get me a roo for her now. She is black with white spots and from what I've seen here that is black mottled.

Start with 'easiest' first: Butterscotch is an even golden color, like a pale buff orpington. It is not a recognized color but I want to get to it anyway. I have this dream of "gold and silver' d'Uccles running around my yard....
Some goldnecks can be a splash mille with very little blue.
True goldnecks are dominant white. There can be a touch of blue or black 'smudging' but it is little to none.
