As long as you practice the rotation method, you should have no issues

Some people just misunderstand breeding and keep taking daughter to dad, and son to mother. That's alright for f1 and f2, but then what are you going to do? You then have dads who are also grandpas, moms who are grand dames, ect. Rotation is one of the things I use to keep my program and projects going. It's essential that I do so because I dont want to bottle neck, and have seen the effects of such breedings. Your doing great WGC, hang in there and keep rotating, you'll be fine hun

We currently have a Pheonix Roo and Hen plus a leghorn hen in a non heated non insulated triangle tractor that we did not plan on using but on saterday night he got in a scrap with the other pheonix roo and almost lost the back half of his comb. So we needed to segregate him for his own saftey. We added the hens to ensure there was some body warmth. We swap out the water a couple times a day.
Even with our cool temps for the last couple days they are actually better than the ones in the insulated coops.

Forgive me, but I had to go out and try (note, I said try

) to take pics of the D'Uccles, who are about five weeks old now. The barred Del cross and the Delaware are almost four weeks, but they are tanks compared to the other two. One pullet is a good bit larger than the other one. You can see the comb on that boy, now named Beau. It's raining now instead of snowing. Wish we could catch a break with this weather so I could get to know the new kids better.

I'm itching to get my hands on them, but dang weather makes it awful. I realize that I'm not into the breeding aspect much at the moment, but I hope that over time, the knowledge will somehow seep into my brain by hanging out here.
