I'm not 100% sure. She was my last hatch of autumn, so maybe late August? I think that's right, because some of her brooder mates were sold at the TN Valley Show in mid September. They were about 6 weeks old, and she was a tad later than them.

So I guesstimate that she's about 5 months old, no more than 6 months.

She must be getting close then. I haven't put her in with Midas yet, because I wasn't sure how old she was and she still looks so little. She is oh so pretty, though.

I think I may wait until I know she is laying before I put her in with Midas, since he REALLY likes his girls!

Yes, I'd wait. She's so small that enthusiastic attention could be harmful for her. And he is certainly enthusiastic

I'd love to see some recent pictures of her, when you get a chance.

I am going to try tomorrow to get some, so hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Seven. Shipped on the 11th. Fortunately, they weren't frozen or cracked when they arrived. I've got everything crossed!

That's 7 days, shipped. Ask Aubrey, they did that with one of his shipments to me. However, I did have a very decent hatch, believe it or not. I say thow them in bator when your tems are good, just like SpeckledHen said. Wait and dont candle till day 5-7! Another thing with D's that I have found out, they actually like, and seem to hatch better (FOR ME) when the humidity is a bit higher thru entire process. I dont get wet chicks, I hatch strong babies who just pop outta the shell this way. But like I said, that's ME, here in SW MO

Cynthia, I tried to send you a PM but I'm not sure it I managed to get it out or not? Please let me know when/if you have time. No big deal

Nope, didn't get one, Misty. Try to resend.

I keep humidity between 35-50% the first 18 days then adjust up to 65-70%, but I've only done LF eggs, never bantams. Humidity is more of a challenge in winter, for sure.

Haha,
yep, I had two of those screaming buggers fly over the house today while I was feeding up, then they decided to put on a show over our swamp in the front yard and start mock fighting. God knows an A-10 is one more hi pitched screaming thing when it turns 180 degrees in what looks like 10 feet, lol dont see how they can do it

Timing should be about perfect for me, just let me know a week or so in advance when you know for sure

Candled last night:

GC eggs:
2 bloodrings
1 had been the clear, the yolk had totally fallen apart. I suspect they did get bumped a bit in shipping, since I was candling very gently.
9 going strong

My 5:
1 clear (froze?)
4 going strong, including the one that was laid at the show on Saturday (yay!)

My 4 chicks are the quietest babies I think I've ever had. They have an extreme aversion to being held, though. That's the only time they make noise, is when the Big Giant Hand is coming to eat them. Next week they'll make the connection between the BGH and their feed and water

I use a Brinsea, and when I incubate in the garage I never add water except for hatching, due to the humidity. But I can't put the bator in the garage until the cold spells go away. In the basement I have a hard time getting the humidity above 35%, but it holds there pretty steadily. Since I have some space, I can add wet paper towels when I need to. The air cells don't look too large, so I think I'm doing okay right now.

Reading the talk of jets reminded me of my childhood. My dad flew jets for the Airforce in FL until I was 4. And when we moved to the GA farm at 13 we had an old barn on a hill that fighter jets used as a landmark for their flights. Nothing like tending the chickens and hearing that sonic boom over the house! We loved it though. The never flew except in daylight, but early morning fly overs on Saturday or Sunday were the only time anyone at my house got miffed over it.

For four years we lived off the end of a Canadian Military Airbase with flights running 24/7. I was on shift work at the time and was able to get use to the noise to a point.
The ones that always woke me up were the amaerican B52's that came in periodically.
Airshow weekends were just brutal on my sleep pattern.

Hoping for eggs from girls in any of the D'Uccle pens so I can get the incubator going.

I love all the air shows. I'm a HUGE fan of the old WWII fighters (Mustang, corsair, P50's-all of them, ect). Going in and out around here are the stelth bombers. They fly in 3 man formation and are the neatest sight and sound even though they are WAY up in the clouds. Gives me goosebumps, lol.

Heres the newest addition hatched...if you look carefully, only because I suck at pic taking, you can see it's not a porcelain, has 3 small stripes on back in 2nd pic. I "believe" this is another silver baby, but am unsure at this point. Anyone wanna take a stab at it?? This is what the others looked similar to when born so
