D'uccle Thread

Here's my baby, 5 weeks old today......just a little eye candy.

Nugget has finally decided she is over being mama, so the D'Uccles and 12 week old Tasha are being pushed away and Nugget is going off without them. I don't blame her! She hangs on much longer than any other broody I've had. The babies are a bit perplexed. Could be that Beau's crowing convinced her.

What a cutie pie!

If it turns out to be a roo, we can still arrange a trade, if you want

It would just have to be one of my babes instead of one of GC's... I only have cockerels

I'm sure this has been covered all ready but i just picked up some millie colored and some porcelin and was wondering if someone could help me out with breeding these, what will i get if i breed these two different colors together?will i get some of each or what will i get. Thanks

Humphrey and the two girls are doing wonderful, 20 millie chicks, 1 layer standard mutt was the past months hatch. All healthy and doing great, Ruthie, one of the hens is sitting on a bunch of eggs due to hatch this next week. We are definitely fertile in these parts.

Porcelain x Mille Fleur will get you Mille Fleur with a split lavender gene. Breed those back to porcelains and other mille/lav splits and you'll get more porcelains (I think). Porcelain is just Mille Fleur with the lavender gene added. Did I get that right, guys?

sure did Cynthia, I'm prowd of you !! LOL

Yes a porcelain is just a lavender millie fluer.
When you breed any lavender bird to another color, the blue will turn back to black, both being mottled columbians already, both those geens will be passed to the offspring giving them 2 copies needed to express the color, in other words they will be millie fluers. One being a lavender parent will make the offspring split to lavender, (it takes two copies of that to show lavender) so yes, breed the new millies back to porcelain to get more porcelain or to each other, though you will get more porcelain breeding them back to the original porcelain parent.
