D'uccle Thread

Well shoot! I have tuesday off and might have followed the exact same compulsion, but you beat me to it! Good luck finding nonhatchery d'uccle pullets, they seem to be on the rare commodities list. Even my pet chicken is sold out of Mille fleurs this year. I took 6 porcelain cockerels to auction 2 weeks ago and made $6.50 each. But I didn't see a single Mille fleur pullet! Even at the spring swap I went to, I only saw 1 Mille fleur trio while there. Now I know to get my Mille fleur pullet order from MPC early next year!

blue wheaten Ameraucana roo and a stop at Scott's-Yard Full of Rocks for some Columbian Rocks my husband is threatening to take my satellite away before I make the trips even further.I would consider some Gold eggs but I see that they are as hard to find as the chicks.

I can't believe you all are having difficulty finding good quality MF pullets. Due to my increasing, deteriorating health, I just gave away my entire seasons hatch from my beautiful show quality MF d'Uclle. One of my hens went Best of Breed at Marietta, OH. It broke my heart to have to let them go that way, but I found someone who had been wanting some for quite awhile and she was of the quality of person that I was looking for. I knew I wouldn't have to worry about my babies and they would have a good home and she would work to find them good homes if she sold them. I'm still getting loads of eggs, so if anyone wants eggs, just let me know. I'm just not going to do any more incubating this year.
This is a picture from much earlier this year, they have matured considerably since this was taken.

If you want to see them, just let me know and I'll do my best to get something more current.

Ok, I have to ask...are all D'uccle so darn loveable? Mills simply can't get enough of being held...he runs out to greet us when we get home kinda like a loyal dog. Sissy has him in the house tonight, she is laying on the floor and Mills sitting on her back grooming her hair. Are all D'uccle this docile and loveable? He's becoming my favorite roo.

I am MAXED out on chicken space for this year. NEXT YEAR - - - these are the only guys on my wish list.

Aren't these guys in the leghorn family or am I think of another speckled bird ? ? ? ?

What size eggs do these girls lay ? ?

Would I have to worry about mixing them with my regular flock ( because of their feathered feet) ?

I'm in Keystone, check back next year because I have been hatching really great quality d'uccles of a bunch of varieties since Christmas! My yard is slowly being overrun with d'uccles!

Ummmmmm...........I think not.......I'm so totally disorganized this year. I just bought a house and it needs work, I've been sick and trying to do this work while I've been. Then I decided to try and breed on top of all of that. It was a bad decision. I should have skipped the year and focused on getting things set up here, but I was to excited about the plans that I had made for my birds.
