Skeffling Farms does love her D'Uccles.
She is on a different bourd I am on.

Here is a picture of a Lemon D'Uccle. There are others back a hundred or so pages on this thread.

He is very pretty. Dang, now I have to add another color of D'Uccles I like! Teddi, I wasn't sure I was going to like the porcelain, but they sure are growing on me! DH didn't like the Mille fleurs, he thought I was nuts for obsessing over them (hey, there's a reason I belong to the Poultry Addiction Anonymous thread!) but right now his favorite of all 19 of our birds is one of the Mille fleur chicks! Men?!?!

So, for future reference, who sells lemon hatching eggs?

When is the crossroads? And will you have any birds available while you are there?
Thanks!

Crossroads is the last weekend in OCT.

Might do some pre-sales, for pick-up on that Friday.

Hey guys I'm new to D'uccle's and I'm wondering about them, are they are smaller birds? Are they bantams? What are their usual temperaments? Friendly, flighty, calm? Are they good mama's? Do they go broody often? Just any info you guys got. I'm just trying to find a good breed for me. Oh and does anybody know of any good breeders who breed show quality? Any helpful factoids and very welcome

this might be a dumb question but i have a d'uccle mille fleur rooster that is 16 weeks old and his boot feathers are really getting long. i don't have a recent pic of him but can i trim them up some? if i don't trim them i didn't know if he would start to step on them and could hurt himself or not. i will get a update photo of him. so you can see how long they are getting. this is a old pic of him for know.

They are a bantam-only breed. Some are flighty, most are very mellow, friendly little birds. Very smart, very curious about what you're doing, very apt to talk to you while you work. They have unique voices, not like any other chicken I've owned.
They can go broody and are very good mothers if they do. Mine didn't until fully mature (2nd or 3rd year) but since then I've had some young birds go broody and some that never have.

If you don't have much space, but want a very pretty bird then I recommend d'Uccles.

There are several people tha breed show quality birds. Shipped eggs can be hard to find, so going to bantam shows or finding someone in your area would be the easiest way to get quality birds. There's a link in my signature line that gives breed history and how qualities, from the d'Uccle club.

milliefleur, don't trim the feet feathers! You might clip a blood feather and do some real harm. Your bird will waddle like a duck and learn to lift it's feet if running through grass. He might trip at times, but that's just part of the bird. Let him be and he will get used to them.

Just popping by to show off my favorite pullet (new acquisition from lilcrow). She's so soft, so sweet, and sooo pretty. I'm scared to name her -afraid I might jinx her or something.
