D'uccle Thread

Thanks, I do plan on bringing 4 or 5 to the show since it's only $3 per entry.
That cockerel is going to be a good looking roo I hope, I just fear that he's going to turn ugly on me! It has happened before but so far he's getting better by the day. His feet are GREAT. He's starting to show somewhat of an attitude (not towards me but the LF hens I keep for eggs) so I'm hoping that's just a phase.

Oh and that cockerel with all the white is going bye-bye. I liked his beard but his coloring is WAY off. Never liked the white from the beginning, I think he might have been a result of sibling breeding...oops!
I am NPIP and about 3 hours from Georgia, why you wanna trade lol.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Probably pet quality but where'd you get him from? Maybe he has some SQ genes running in his blood, never know! I thought white feathers were only a d.q. only if there are 2 or more on any one area of the chicken. I thought it was in the SOP but now I can't find it.

Hello Everyone, sorry it's been so long since I've been online. I've been reading and trying to "catch up" on everything, some beautiful birds and great programs going on. Congrats Lori, you've come a long way since we last spoke, Nathan and Doug... <3 Your blacks are very nice, Lori. Been busy this summer, but will be posting pics of 2 roos I decided to keep from my 'blue' program later. Aubrey, I'll need your help on ID'ing an Official color for them, so be ready

So nice to catch up and know everyone is doing well...

what about sizzles and frizzed cochins both of them also have foot feathering.

Different kind of foot feathers. My d'Uccles have 5+ inches on the best foot feathers and have a hard enough time with tripping on things when the foot feathers snag. I've never seen a show cochin with as long of feathers on their feet as a d'Uccle. It's not the way they're made. Also, frizzling is natural in cochins; It can just show up.
Silkies also have a totally differrent kind of foot feather than d'Uccles, so the frizzle part makes less of an impact.

As I said, it's just my opinion. I know people have already made frizzled d'Uccles and find them adorable. I'm not one of those people, though
