D'uccle Thread

So here is Aunry the one that a couple BYCers said looked like a Blue Mille. what are your thoughts now?
and here is a very recent pic of his brother buff man, taken by new owner to show me what he looks like now.

They have the same dad (Porcelain D'Uccle), I only have two gals they could have come from my White D'Uccle who carries the mottling gene, and my golden neck D'Uccle. who do you think is their momma and I don't see the blue in buff man like I do Aunry! Suggestions on coloring?

tail looks blue so im sticking with a blue mille

Has he been in the sun? Maybe that caused the yellowing.
Or are you talking about the darker speckling? I haven't seen many without that....

yea the yellowing...i hope you are right about the sun idea. i have no self blues to breed him to but i do have a porcelian pullet and what looks to be a black pullet(hoping it is) that i will breed him to once they start laying might even have a blue pullet as well

My guess is 4 mf, 2 black, 2 porcelain, a white and maybe a goldneck.

What color D'uccles did I get in my Ideal order?
I THINK I see 1 White, 1 Golden Neck, 2 Porcelain, 2 Brown Reds, and the last 4 I am not sure if they are Buff Columbian, Mille Fleur, or Blue Mille Fleur

I'd say they're booted bantam, not d'Uccle (no beards).
Top one looks blue mille to me, but not sure on the bottom one....

The black will be the best match, as all babes will then carry the self blue.
When I crossed self-blue to porcelain I got a batch of babes that failed to thrive due to a condition called 'feather stop'. The feathers just quit growing after about 2-3 weeks and yet the chicks kept growing. The down couldn't keep them warm and they died, one by one. I heard of several other breeders experiencing it after I had my 'experiment' failure. It was reasoned that there is a slow-feather issue for some lavenders that gets compounded by something porcelain carries and changes into the 'feather stop' flaw. Maybe yours won't have a problem, but watch for it just in case....

I'm reloading my incubators for the April 14th show. I want to be able to sell a few d'Uccle chicks, since it's a 'home show' in Knoxville TN.
I am really excited about my self-blue chicks that I have so far. Fuzzy feet and feathering in nicely for the older few. And one of the last 4 that hatched is a mottled lavender! I'm keeping my eye on THAT one!!

I bred them myself, Unless these are Booted bantams with beards! The boys are on the less dominant side just like their daddy, they tend to let the girls pluck there beards.
Dad Porche has a small one but it's there, he was going through molt in these pics. the booted bantam gals for comparison behind Porche.

Where you get the cute little gold neck?

I bought her and the white one from a guy in portland who had no idea what they were and they were in good shape but there feet were horrible. I wish I knew where she came from before that most of the golden neck girls I see have a washed out gold. I was told she is gay in color by my english friend who breeds them meaning to much white. I rea;lly don't care what he says she's beautiful and hats that
