D'uccle Thread

Hi guys! I think i may have picked up some du'ccle chicks from my TSC. They look like they have a single comb, normal # of toes, foot feathering, and little beards,. I was trying for porcelain, but when i got into better lighting i saw they were buff, not yellow. Thoughts???? I'm getting a buff and black feather pattern now.

Okay, another up date on my kids I hatched from BabyMakes6. They have colored up really well. Foot feathering is fantastic. The roo is a bit of a snot but he is probably hormonal at this age. The girls are lovely! I put them outside in a grassy pen every morning and bring them inside to a cage at night. Can't have my babies sleeping out at night.
And yes, there are 2 Silkies in the pen with them. Those came from Sandy at Bat Cave Silkies in NC.

I love the pattern and sweetness on these birds. I hope the boy turns out to be as great as his sisters. They are around 5 months old now and are fat and happy little birds.

I think you do have porcelain! Good luck. My mille fleur had another whole color/look then yours.

You'll know soon, they grow so fast! Mine was fully feathered at 3 weeks of age.

Here's my mille fleur Muffin. She lays 5 eggs a week. I didn't know they were such strong layers.

Those look like Porcelain chicks to me. Hope you have some good experiences with them! I have a couple d'Uccles from TSC and they are nice birds, especially the cock, who is a total knockout

Wow, nice birds! The coloring looks very good.

My d'Uccle roo was also a snot when he was younger

He was frequently biting us and tried to mate with the pullets a lot. But after he turned like seven months old, he started to be a real gentleman, with us and with his girls. Hope your roo does the same!

I don't know, mine have black, but it's not in a polka-dot pattern like i expected. One of my MI peeps had this one, this is a porcelain chick, right?
Whatever they are, they sure are spunky, trying to fly already and beating each other up for food rights, and perching rights! I hope i don't have all roos! I really needed the porcelain for my breeding project, so i will have to keep trying. One of them is a runt, and is so calm and cuddly that i am thinking i want to keep him/her.

You'll know soon. They look like porcelain babies with the grey fuzz. They are adorable! I knew by 2-3 weeks that mine was a girl. I was the first one to pick her out of 50 chicks. I brought her home literally out of the shipping box. My little girl was very aggressive the first week or two when I brought her home. She settled down very nicely. One of my friendliest girls ever.

3-4 days old
