D'uccle Thread

This is Sugar our sweet little rooster. Almost 9 months old and no crowing so far, fingers crossed. I would love some feedback on him, I am thinking he has a bit to much white on his head and his foot feathering could be better. What do you think?
He's actually lacking a TON of white. His feathers should be: White tipped, with black under that, then the caramel coloring last. I absolutely adore his beard though!

Cross him with a hen that has too much white, and I'm pretty sure you'll get yourself some good babies!

Hi, I was directed to this thread as I am looking for 4-12 female Mille fleurs. Sadly I lost my girl yesterday in a terrible accident and will miss her greatly. I got her at 1 day old last April, and shortly thereafter she became my sidekick. She greeted me everyday by flying up and sitting on my head or shoulder, I could call her from across the yard and she always came running. She napped in my arms and was probably the sweetest bird I've ever met. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all so much
Shawna

Can't help you but i too have lost "best friends" this way. I almost got out of chickens when I lost my two best buds this last summer, coop still don't feel "right". The rooster was my first chicken and the hen was the one i'm holding in my avitar.

This is a slow time of year for these kind of birds since they don't lay much at all (mine not at all) during the winter. I hope someone can help you out, but don't despair because if it's not now come spring they will be laying again and growing broody!

Does anybody have a clue what this little chick will look like as it matures. It will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. Daddy was a Silkie and Mama a d'Uccle. I have 2 Mille Fleur and 1 Golden Neck pullets and I don't know which it came from. It doesn't have the same color pattern as the Mille Fleur chicks that were hatched at the same time. The feathering is so dark. I do think it's a pretty chick though.

It looks like it will be pencilled, like a cochin. Sure is funny in that it has a solid head and no penciling. Also has the light head and breast of wheaten. Anybody else? Since both the gold neck and the mille fleur have the columbian and mottled gene, I would think the pencilling came from the silkie?

Here are pics of some of my babies.....
