We're so glad you joined! BYC is an awesome place to learn about, well, everything chicken related and much, much more!

That looks like a pea comb, so I'll have to say that is a Buff Brahma! Do you know whether or not it's a Bantam?

Oooo! I found a D''Uccle thread! I'll have to post later. Right now I need to jump in the shower, take the dogs out, lock them up, pack my supper for tonite and head to work. TTYS!!

I am using the chicken calculator and I am getting better at it...yea!! It is showing a mottled buff as a white patterned gold mille fleur. I assume that is the same as D'uccle mottled buff?
I have a buff mottled D'uccle hen that has been laying. I bought her at the end of March (the man told me twice it was a roo and I decided not to argue with him after asking if he was sure!), collected the 1st 2 eggs, put them in my incubator with another breed I had in there. One hatched looking light buff colored and the other appears white or almost white, no other color on them yet.. I do not know what color D'uccle roo was in there with her previously, but I do know a lady I met recently had gotten some porcelains from him.
I have a Mille Fleur roo that I added to the pen after about a week and collected 5 more eggs and stashed them under a Silkie hen. They have all hatched. Some look white or almost white and a few look light buff colored. Any ideas on what those lightest colored ones will look like? Will they get the buff mottling as they get older? Or, maybe the buff ones will get whiter mottled? Or...what color might those whitish ones be?? They are still quite young. The younger batch just hatched 5 days ago. Think these could also be chicks from the rooster before I bought her?
Thanks!!

Oh how pretty! I would LOVE to have black D'uccles. Do you breed them?

I wish. Hopefully in the near future. I plan on breeding my duccles eventually. Thank you though I picked her up from a fellow NYC member mstricer. She has some great quality birds. LF too.

Thank you for the kind words.
I also lost a hen. She was my second D'uccle. The black I had just posted. She was dead when I came home. I think it may have been the over crowding of roosters.

Oh no. I still have some chicks here and i set about 50 or so eggs for the swap next week at Mt Hope

She could very well be fertile from the other roo, it took nearly two rounds of hatching before i got duccles, after a crafty marans cockerel found a small hole in my breeding pen. As for what the white on might be, you would have to share what the other rooster was.

I sure hope so! I would love to have some more mottled buffs!!! If the darker buff chicks turn out to be Mille Fleurs, do you think the lighter ones might be mottled buffs? There is no indication of blue in their feathers, do the porcelains have any blue in their down? How can I tell if they are mottled or porcelain or something else?
Thanks !!!

PS I bought the buff hen thinking even if the man was right and it wa a roo, I would still want it. I just didn't hink her red comb was quite big enough to be a roo. I lucked out!! :
:)

Okay, if I stick one more project egg in the bator, my mother is going to kill me. She can't get to the horses to feed them because all of the chickens, soooooooo......

I have D'uccle/Serama eggs that may be carrying lemon or dun or both. I also have several mille fluer and black mottled cockerals I need to get rid of (pet quality). The roos are free and the eggs are $10 for 18. The chicks are coming out lemon and/or dun. You pay shipping.

I am NPIP certified.
