D'uccle Thread

does anyone have d'uccle eggs for sale?
I purchased eggs from Wingshadows Hacienda a few weeks ago. they are pipped and due to hatch tomorrow. I do not know what colors she has now but I got black and blue mottled. I paid for a doz. She shipped alot of extras and I have 7 that made it to lockdown. Shipped eggs can be a pain but in Alaska our gene pool is limited and I hate getting chicks in the mail. Its great until something goes wrong.... I am happy with these and cannot wait til morning!

When I first discovered d'Uccle, I took it upon myself to pronounce their given name "de-you-cul", like I've heard others say it as well. I also heard some people pronounce it "de-you-clee"... so I researched the proper pronunciation and what I came up with for a satisfying answer is that d'Uccle is pronounced "dew-clay".

Correct me if I am wrong, my intention is to help educate others, not misinform anyone. Assuming that I'm correct, I want the best information distributed about a breed that I so admire and work with, including my project variety which lay blue eggs. I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge to please enlighten me.

I researched too and finally came up with "dew clay' ". My daughter asked a man that was from that country and he told her "dew slay" I am just going to keep "dew clay" as I have heard it 5 different ways including hatcheries from which I have purchased some from in the past!

Ok so after trying to believe i had something i did not I have made my way to the place where i may get the most help. from the people that have and raise many Mille. here is ashley, i have come to the realization that it is a roo, but if my suspicions are incorrect please tell me.

he is just starting to get the white, my guess is he is about 6-7weeks old cause i have had him for 30+ days. I'm not disappointed that it is a roo, cause i still will keep him but this not knowing game i am playing with my 4 bantams is crazy stuff. I have never had an animal where it is a guessing game to figure out what it is. And i may sound like i'm complaining but i'm just one who like to know what i have so if there is any special needs. thanks

based on my 3, 2 of whom are probably that age and are hens and a smaller one that I've figured is a roo, I'd say yes it's a boy. My little one who is just a month old has a much redder and more of a comb already. The girls barely have any.
