D'uccle Thread

Ok. I have 4 weeks until I have to explain to my 4h group how to select their best d'uccle hen and rooster for our show. I have some feedback from the winston salem folks at the show, but I thought I would get input from master breeders here also. Please help me explain WHY you choose traits and any tips you use.
This one placed first. He has a fuller, thicker neck snd his coloring is better (more pronounced spangles, more even red tone).

Any other good points/bad points for him?
Next. Is one that didnt place as well (2 or 3rd), have to look at band numbers, besides the 1st place winner, they pretty much look the same to me. I kno his beard is lighter, more variations of red in his coloring, thinner neck. Not as "jazzy" looking to me.

Any other points for him?
And finally another one. Same problems as number 2.

Woyld you pick number 2 or number 3 as your backup rooster? Why?
Thanks for helping me with this. I have been following the thread everyday since october (and i read every post fron the beginning). I dont want to be a random poster..."help me and tell me everyhing with me not having to do any research"......I have done months of research and would just like opinions to validate or challenge the observations I am making (and be able to explain to the kids).

THANK YOU!!!

Number two has too much white in comparison to black. They should be pretty even on each feather. I would use number three, although his neck looks pretty long. So each have their flaws. I can't see toe feathering or comb quality from the pics.
that's my two cents

#3 has obvious wattles. That would disqualify him from breeding I would think. I have a roo with teeny tiny ones (it looks like your other two have them), that I'm going to work with, but I would not enter him in a show for that reason, and since I'm new to the breed I have no idea how long it will take to get rid of, it's just what I have to work with at the moment.

They are allowed to have small wattles, although none is better. But SOP is very small to no wattles.
The wattles on this porcelain was why I culled him from my breed, they were too large for "very small".... And his comb is terrible... And his neck is too long....
