D'uccle Thread

MaryRuth, I now afraid to critique, but if I could,
Don't be afraid... go for it. I won't take it the wrong way.

Okay I just want to make sure I am in the right place. I picked up 6 D'Unccles this weekend at a local auction. I had heard of this breed, but had never thought of raising them. When the auctioneer held them up they were so cute and no one was bidding on them so I paid a whopping $1 a piece.
I want to learn more about this breed. I just have been raising Silkies and I have Seramas in my incubator now. As of this moment I have little interest in showing them. So if someone could point me to the correct forum for raising pet D'Unccles I would appreciate it.

I have figured a way to keep my D'uccles! I'm so happy now!
Yeah. Happy for you.

I think this is the right place for all D'uccles...Show or Breeder quality AND pet quality.

Welcome to the thread and glad you got such a great deal on them. I'm afraid of going to auctions - I have a <knock on wood> healthy flock and I've heard some sad stories about sickness coming in from swaps, meets or auctions. Plus, with my soft heart (and the kids soft hearts) I'd come home with too many. LOL

Hello Everyone! We are new here as well. And I immediately come with questions. lol

I was given a pair of Mille Fleur Belgian Bearded D'Uccles last summer. They hatched three gorgeous roos. One is Mille Fleur and the other two are pure white, beardless, and have wattles. Is this normal? Or is one or both possibly crossed with a booted bantam?
We have since incubated/hatched approximately 30 chicks. All of them Mille Fleur.
This pic is just after I brought them home so they look a little rough (they were cooped with standard size that picked on them).

Here's a pic of my final gold neck pair - just put them in the coop area yesterday. They are looking for a new home since I'm going to be raising only porcelains from now on.

I have some milles and brown reds to sell as well.

MaryRuthLangdon,
Such cool colored new birds!! I have a blue mottled hen, but she's not as nice as yours:) I'm breeding her to a regular mille roo, we'll see what I get! I start collecting eggs on Sunday and plan to incubate shortly thereafter, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you get those brown reds?
