D'uccle Thread

I also lost a hen. She was my second D'uccle. The black I had just posted. She was dead when I came home. I think it may have been the over crowding of roosters.

I too, am down to one d'uccle... I lost my other hen over the winter.
While they are not the hardiest of chickens, I love them so much.
They are sweet and friendly... not to mention just plain cute.
I raise and keep them specifically for live incubators for hatching my other breeds.
I would love to find a couple of more Mille Fleur if anyone has any.
My hen Muccle (yes, Muccle the D'uccle) is broody again... today should be hatch day... she is sitting on 7 RIR eggs

I have a color question for you experts....

I have a black roo over 2 lavender hens. Of course, all my chicks are black (split to lavender). My roo has that gorgeous sheen on him that makes a black so awesome. And so far, all his children with these hens have also had that beetle green sheen. Now, my question is....

If I take his daughters (black splits) back to a lavender roo.....will I lose that sheen on their black chicks? I should get both black-split to lavender and lavender chicks from them. But I hate to lose that awesome look of a black D'uccle. There is nothing quite like it. I am fairly new to D'uccles, so pardon my ignorance. Thanks for any/all advice.

hens are lavender and carmel with black and then white tips I don't know which hen laid they both laid in same box

I was hoping you would say that they are beautiful babys 2 are the light carmel color and one is black with carmel tips so pretty and they have feathers on middle and outside toe anthe dark one loves to be held but the light ones don't want none of that lol
So you have a Lavender hen and a Mille Fluer hen with a Golden Sebrite, they will be pretty chicks with their own unique color at this point.

I simply love my D'uccles... the best live incubators around.
Here's Muccle with her day old chicks (no - they are not d'uccles, they are Buff O's and RIR)

Hello! I am new to the forums, I just got 3 chicks from the Bantam box at a store, they didn't know what kind they were, they showed me pictures of Silkies! I went to a Silkie forum, and they directed me here and the Cochin Bantam Forum.

I could use all the help I can get! You guys are the professionals! What do you think they are?

Thanks!!!

This little cutie is a Mille Fleur D'uccle.
This one actually looks like either a buff Brahma (does it have a pea comb?), or a gold laced Cochin (single comb?).
This one looks like a red frizzle Cochin.
Mille Fleur D'uccle.
Red Cochin.
Brahma/Cochin. Does it have a single comb or pea comb??

Could be either cochin or d'uccle but I don't see much bearding. Or they may be mixes. You may have to wait to find out.

I have no clue what type of comb the dark one has.....I am soooooooo new to chickens....I seriously had no clue how many varieties existed!

You stated, " This one actually looks like either a buff Brahma (does it have a pea comb?), or a gold laced Cochin (single comb?)."

Since I have no way of telling I'll post updated pictures. Hopefully, it can be telling!

Thanks so much Backyardchickens Community!!!!!
