D'uccle Thread

mine are awesome mothers. both of these girls share the clutch. The splash is the one who started the clutch, then the Mille decided it would be fun. All it took was me not collecting eggs for a few days when my daughter was having her baby.

Ok. They have all finally started laying so I hope they will become broody every now and then. I wish I could get some more hens but I don't have room.

Also, my rooster has red, bald patches on the shoulder parts of his wings. It looks like feathers are trying to grow but they stop and fall out. They've all been treated for mites and so has their house.

Okay I have a silly question. I'm new to this whole breeding thing, but couldn't you use d'anvers to bring new colors in? I know they don't have feathered feet, but the type is very similar. And the folks at Boggy Bottom Bantams have lots of awesome colors. Just a thought. Correct me if I'm way off ;)

I'd say roos too. I got 3 and the hens barely have any comb and the roo's started to get bigger and really redder vs hens who are very light barely even pink.

ETA: I can't see #2 that well.

It looks like none of the birds in these pictures have vulture hocks and I don't think that mine do either but the standard states that this is a DQ if they are absent is this true and if it is what should I do about it?
