D'uccle Thread

they are both cockerels and have a lot to grow in color wise. right now if you can enter both enter both as cockerels but you will really have to wait till almost a year old to see their over all coloring.

Thanks! So, will they get more black as they age or should they be showing more by now? That will be something to look for in the future when we're picking out young ones.

None of ours have been "mean", although we've had a few with an attitude. We have a really sweet guy right now that follows us around chattering. His only downfall is he sometimes will grab the skin on our hand and try to pull it off! LOL

I'd say the biggest problem with them is the constant crowing. Even that isn't a huge problem unless you have neighbor's you'd like to stay on good terms with.

Hahaha I do have really good neighbors, who are not super close....I have a neighbor super fair away and I hear theirs every so often...looking at these pics...do you think it would be really annoying for them?

Well, haha I guess only time will tell and we'll ask once he starts to make noise.... he is 5-6 weeks old....when to they start to crow?

you will need to read this first page then click on the color you have at the bottom for the individual color

Very helpful link....although it makes my head spin a bit. LOL I'll need to print this out and start getting it in my brain. :)

Question on the tail angle: It says "abrupt angle" for the tail, but that squirrel tail is a DQ. What is the fine line seperating the two? Would it be that squirrel tail actually comes back towards the head?

You got it, if the tail is less than a 90degree angle towards the head then that's squirrel tail. The ONLY breed that's ok on is the japs. Maybe seramas but they have crazy posture regardless haha
