You should have sold her. That's a fantastic deal for a mixed breed bird.

Me too. Half are sitting on eggs the other half are molting. You going to Columbus this year Laurie. I was going to bring my Mottled Roo to show, but he lost the tips of his comb this past winter, So now I have to show a cockerel instead of a roo. I'm trying to get smaller birds I lost my winning girl about a month ago from being egg bound. I had no idea. It sucks.

Oh my gosh! No kidding on the molting! It looks like someone exploded a feather pillow in the coop. They usually do this in August, so I am praying they get it together in time to show them starting in August! Not sure about going to Columbus this year. Knoxville is hosting the ABA show 12/6, and as a member of the club I'll be pretty busy helping out with set-up and the running of things. We'll see how it feels closer to time. I am growing out some nice young birds to show alongside the birds I showed Jan-June. I am also going to select smaller birds to keep, wherever possible. The small self-blue I got in Columbus threw all mottleds, which I don't want, so I sold him. I kept a small black cockerel to replace the roo that I had, and have just put him in with the self-blue ladies. They're coming out of broodiness and mid-molt, so by the time they start laying again the eggs should be fertile. I'll hatch some splits and keep the best roo to put back over the self-blues. You know your splash girl? I talked to the breeder I sold my white d'Uccle pair to, and they are DEFINITELY the birds that threw the 'splashes'. His thinking is dom white with silver gene. He also got a lovely goldneck from that white pair. He warned me to be careful breeding her, because the silver gene is undesirable and hard to eliminate. I kept my splash girl but am about to deliver her offspring as pets for a family. Not enough room to keep them although they are pretty babes. A 'splash', a 'blue' (in appearance only, not truly blue), and a goldneck that is so nice I almost kept her.

Hi Everyone.
I am new to posting to this thread but I have read and reread almost every post here. I am new to d'uccle's.

These are just hatchery birds. The feed store ordered d'uccle's for me and when I went to pick them up they were all mixed in with other bantams. I tried to make my best guess and to pick out d'uccle's.

I have one black and white, one white, and three tan. I am hoping I have a mottled, three mille fleur, and one??? I don't know what the white is.
Any help on guessing what sex you think they are, or to tell me if I even have d'uccle's and what kind, I would be grateful for.

They are 4 weeks old.
Thanks.

Picture 1 and 3 appear to be Mille's, number 2 looks more cochin and the last one may be a porcelain but the eyes don't look it. Sorry I couldn't be more help. What did you order an assortment or a certain variety

Special awards will be given out to the youth exhibitors, this will be an event that every youth will never forget.
For every exhibitor and visitor at the 2014 Ohio National will receive 2 bantam bucks from the ABA.
The Ohio National is now accepting placement of the breed clubs placement of the National meet for 2014. The order of judging and choice of judges will be set by when the meet is placed at the Ohio National.

I had to do a lot of spell correction in that maybe they should use spell check

Thanks for looking.
I had ordered d'uccle chicks from Duane Urch in January, and I never got them...different story....I really wanted a few d'uccle's and I found a feed store who orders chicks from Privett. They said they would do a special order for me.
I asked for 5 mille fluer d'uccles. When I went to pick the chicks up they were in a bin with 50 "hatchery mix d'uccles". They said, 'yours are in there, pick out what you want'...thanks for that.. I have never seen a d'uccle in person much less a day old d'uccle to pick the right ones out of a bin.

Looks like I didn't do so well huh?

Blah...cochin huh?

Any guesses as to the sexes?
