D'uccle Thread

He's not an official color really, just blue mottled with some gold bleedthrough from his mille dad. He's a pretty cool guy though, good personality and I like his shape too, I will probably breed him next year.

Oh hes super cute! I dont mind these mix colors at all. I went ahead and bought 8 hatching eggs from the guy, they just got here today so it will be fun to see what I get. Thanks for sharing the pics :)

Hello. I am sort of a new member, but I saw this thread and just had to join. I own four mille fleur d'uccle hens and one mille fleur d'uccle rooster. I must say, they are the most calm, reliable little birds I have ever had. They are nine months old and have recently began laying; their eggs are small with a gentle brown-creamy color (unlike my white eggs, which come from my silver-laced sebrights.) These are my favorite chickens and are easy to handle. Although my rooster (Dave) will occasionally attack if he sees my sister's attacking rooster pounce on us. Besides that, he goes to sleep when I pet him and takes care of the girls nicely.

I was wondering about spots. When I first got my chicks, I was disappointed and thought I had the wrong breed-- in all the pictures I have ever seen, the mille fleurs have a soft brown and a lot of white. Well, when I got my chicks, they had black feathers and only began developing white a little bit ago. I was wondering how much white some d'uccles do develop in their feathering? I know it's normal for one hen to have a lot and another to not (as are two of my hens, Myna and Pepper Pots.)

Do you have any photos?

I'd breed him back to a mille hen for blue mille babies

I will probably breed him next year to a variety of colors including mille:)
