can't wait to put these in tonight all the way from north Carolina =) Courtesy of crzyckldy =) I've got my fingers crossed for the black mottled d'uccle eggs and I can't wait to see what other colors develop ( happy smiley dances )
I'm so jealous ! I was thinking you were in a different state. I see your next to me. Where did you purchase these wonderful eggs? I have my mille but not a Roo to match her. Only a standard and she does not like him! She thinks I'm her Roo . Every once in awhile he gets her... But have been debating putting his/ her eggs in incubator . I want a Roo to match her and not come out with some crazy chicks. All though all chicks are cute! I'm hoping tgere are some eggs still available ?

Let's keep in touch! I would love to buy some eggs for my incubator. I definitely want to keep her coloring good! Not wash her out. Plus her personality is so wonderful!

this one is a bit better. I'm not familiar with all the different colors. I just love her to piece and wonder if it's the breed or I just got a really sweet young lady?

Little guy is now 5.5 weeks old. I moved all my birds into a bigger brooder in the garage. He/She is still the smallest. Little guy is attached to the hip of one of the other mille pullets. I have 5 milles and 2 are male and 2 females. Little guy still has me stumped on gender.

So my sweet little baby has become aggressive over the last two days. I have eggs in her coop and she was on them this morning. I think she's trying to go broody. As I moved eggs out of nest and out right in front. She tucked all the eggs under her and did not lay yesterday.
I realize she could just be laying a egg. But wondering why she's so upset all the sudden? With past experience my upset hens turn into Broodys. Is this true for most hens?

I posted this on the D'uccle breed group on Facebook but I am looking for more opinions!

Can someone help me figure out the color of these chicks? The first eggs from my pen hatched out today and I am getting some unexpected colors. I am especially curious about the yellow striped chick. I have played around with the chicken genetics calculator a bunch and I am thinking that my rooster might be heterozygous for dominant white, as that is the only gene combination I can find that results in a black chick with a black mottled hen.

My rooster is Golden Neck so he should be dominate white or splash mille fleur. I assumed he was splash because he does have black in his tail feathers. According to the chicken genetics calculator, if my rooster is splash I should be getting blue mottled split to mille fleur, blue mille fleur, and golden neck. If he is dominate white I should be getting mostly golden necks.
I have heard of some blues hatching very dark, so I guess the black chick still could be a blue mottled split, but I am especially confused about the black striped chick. All four pictures are of different chicks.

that one hen is severely washed out- she may have more hiding in her genes
.

this chick above with the chipmunk pattern- i got one too! it turns out to look a lot like a mille fleur

first chick will be mostly black but probably have some brown leaking, third looks blue millie and last looks golden neck, but you will have to wait. after a while you will get a feel for what gets thrown. i am getting surprised , just this hatch all the sudden i am getting golden necks- i have not gotten them from these pens this whole spring but all of the sudden!
