This is my mille as a baby

not sure if it helps. The one still looks wet. How many did you start with? I am going to order some in the next week or so. I normally use my own eggs but I want a few for and my Roo is a EE .

I started with 12+ =) probably 2/3 were clear and the rest developing with most late quitters and 3 making lockdown. I've hatched porcelain and mille before from my girls and the late Stanley, but these aren't quite the same color. Probably mille tho I was trying to vary my genetic stock a bit, going for better hatching, laying, heat and cold tolerance, hardiness in general etc coloring, etc the whole kit and kaboodle =)

I got lucky at tsc one day and I think I got a pair of golden necks =) that's a buff silky behind the golden neck.

Any incubator doesn't hold a lot but small eggs . I wonder if 12 will fit. I have somone a bit closer . Maybe that will help.

I got a much better fluffed out pictures of the two just hatched =) look like milles more to me now =)

a little comparison here, i am sending this series to the folks at ideal. getting birds from them is hit or miss, usually the duccles are fine (i havent ordered any columbians from them), but something is up with their self blue (lavender) stock line. i have before gotten a beardless one with a soft tail -which makes me wonder how much cochin they may have in them. these are photos from my 'self blue d'uccles' i got from ideal in feburary. not only are there no beards/muffs and thus pronounced wattles and ears, but NO VULTURE HOCKS! and a really soft rounded tail, and not even close to a bull neck (i got 3 from them this year). if they were just beardless you could say 'oh those are sablepoots' but those would have vulture hocks and straight tails.






now for comparison-here is a f1 mix from a duccle and a cochin bantam>>note vulture hocks dominate! and tail is still straighter and they have partial beards and muffs.to me this means who ever sold them the eggs really cheated them and me, since they look to be more than half cochin. **edit to mention this is a male BTW, mother was barred and thus it is auto sexing, and this is YOUNGER than the blue.

I got this chick few weeks ago at Atwood. And live just outside of Waco TX so I'm sure these chick's came from Ideal just down the road. And I'm almost sure that it's a self blue d'Uccle. Just hoping you guy can confirm my guess. Also after seeing pairs_r post above I have some concerns. But not much I do about it now cause wife has fell in love with it. Anyway just asking your opinion on whether it's a self blue are not.

Looks like they sold you a Self blue Cochin, instead of a d'Uccle.

Chick is about 4 weeks old.

it looks like a cochin. the have really big 'pants' , plus it has a much fuller body, more rounded. about a month old duccles are pretty 'weedy'.
