D'uccle Thread

This thread has not been too active lately. I guess d'uccle aren't very popular this year. I enjoy their quirky personalities and their side stepping slipper feet. They are goofy little chickens, especially the roosters.

Let's hope their popularity picks up

They were the first chickens I ordered when we moved and started a new flock. We always enjoyed their personalities and never had a mean rooster in our last flock. Love to see the varying colors and our hens were always good mothers, often hatching new batches on their own.

I do love my D'Uccles so much, they're growing up so fast! They'll be 8 weeks on Monday! There is one whom I call Georgina who just likes to sit on my hand and just chill, waiting for a treat :)

(Please note the inside of my coop is not complete I still have to make them a proper roosting bar)

I have just been avoiding this thread because I really just want ot get in the country where I can have roos so I can start breeding them! All summer I kept seeing these beautiful show quality mille fleur d'uccle eggs on Ebay, but I kept telling myself there was no point in getting really nice quality eggs if I would just have to get rid of any that turned out to be roos. Love d'uccles!!

My d'Uccle chicks are one month old as of yesterday. Is the amount of black an indicator of how heavy and even the mille fleur pattern will be? The color on the guys is also quite light and golden (some more than others). I have a lot of variation so far in the heaviness of leg and hock patterning. Not a lot of beard development yet, either.
